YouTube’s downfall: The partnership program

Posted by admin On November - 20 - 2009 12 COMMENTS

partnerships5In YouTube Exposed, MrChiCity3 pointed out that YouTube hasn’t expanded their partnership program like they should. I noticed this over the past few months while running PauseStopRewind. There’s never a day that I come across a YouTuber with the subscribers, the content, and the personality to be a partner. However, YouTube chooses to fiddle their thumbs and wonder around like turkeys with no sense of direction.

Not even a year ago, YouTubers could apply to the partnership program, and within three days receive a reply. Today you’re lucky to get that same reply within two weeks. Then there are those who do get a reply, finally, only to learn they got rejected. Why? Well according to YouTube, Slyth66 lacks original content. Even though he busts his ass to write parodies, recreate instrumentals, acts, and films his videos all by himself.

Then there’s RandomShadowMan who has been rejected for past copyright infringement. However, there’s no strikes indicating this on his account. When you start to look at each YouTuber who has been rejected, and you find yourself confused as to why they have been rejected, it all adds up to one thing… BULLSHIT!

Now as if that wasn’t bad enough, when YouTube finally does accept someone they drag their ass on making it finale. This is exactly what happened with Jule (MistakeProductions), a young, talented YouTuber. Gstrompolos told him he was accepted into the program. Then a few days went by, then a week, two weeks, a month, over a month and program didn’t kick in for Jule.

It over a month after his tweet on Oct. 1st to start up MistakeProduction's partnership.

It took over a month after his tweet on Oct. 1st to start up MistakeProductions' partnership.

When I asked him how he felt he said, “manipulated, used, screwed over”. It wasn’t until he made a tweet that I was interviewing him about his situation that Gstromopolos got the program to kick in for him. Yes, we’re happy that it finally happened, but this shouldn’t have been a problem in the first place. This leads me to wonder who else is going through this.

Youtube’s partnership program has honestly gone to crap. It has become too slow, too disorganize, and too much of a mystery. They’re ignoring talent that could bring them in revenue and they’re breaking dreams for success. Until YouTube fix all the problems that it has created there’s no chance that they’ll become profitable. Which would lead to their downfall.

YouTube’s downfall: It’s all about profit

Posted by admin On November - 16 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

moneymanIn just under three days a video uploaded by MrChiCity3 has hit over 200,000 views. This very same video has YouTube executives pulling their hair out. Why exactly? YouTube has just been exposed for practices and ideas that will resemble the deception that is often expected from Wall Street.

Before you can understand exactly what and why YouTube and some of their top YouTubers do, you need to understand one thing; profit. The one thing that fuels all of this is profit, and without it, YouTube will fail as a business. In matter of fact, Google has been losing millions every year since buying out YouTube.

Some of you reading this may not understand exactly why. After all, YouTube does make hundreds of millions a year from advertising. Well, they don’t make enough, because the cost of hosting and storing these videos are skyrocketing. If a profit doesn’t become evident soon then YouTube could possibly bankrupt (YouTube soon to be profitable). Which we don’t want, because YouTube overall is great and I love it. However, this is where the sketchy business practices start to kick in.

Long before MrChiCity33’s video, many speculated that YouTube was showing signs of half truths and dishonesty. Between the decaying partnership program to the unusual suspensions of YouTubers, the signs were becoming more evident. However, I only saw it as a few unrelated issues that YouTube were having troubles addressing. I was wrong.

Then emails started to come in. First it was a couple, then a dozen, and now it’s a few hundred. Emails asking PauseStopRewind about issues that YouTube weren’t addressing, stories about unfair practices, and the unfriendly attitudes of popular YouTubers. The main foundation for this website is to avoid gossip reporting, but what was first gossip is now directly damaging to the community. This needs to be reported.

Over the course of the week, PauseStopRewind will examine and dissect further into these issues addressed by MrChiCity3. You’ll be brought facts and stories that you thought you would have never heard. Getting both sides of everything will be attempted to receive to the best of PauseStopRewind’s ability. Hopefully, along the way, some light will start to shine.
