The diabetic YouTuber

Posted by admin On December - 3 - 2009 7 COMMENTS

DiabeticDillonAs YouTube grows so dose the diversity of the YouTubers that are spotlighted on PauseStopRewind. There have been everything from an electronic keyboard player to a Barack Obama look alike and even a few cross dressers. Never, have I once spotlighted a YouTuber who not only admits that they have a medical illness but goes as far as to make it part of their name. Further more, show us how to live life and captures those little moments on film.

Diabetic Dillon, know for his YouTube channel Diabetic Productions, has some of the most eye capturing videos I’ve ever had the privilege to watch. Yes, as his name states, he does have diabetes, and he addresses this in his video, Diabetes. Instead trying to create this atmosphere to have us feel sorry for him he instead creates a little bit of a joke. Honestly, the first time I heard his name I responded with “haha, really?”, and I’m sure you did so as well.

It’s kind of humorous, it’s ear catchy, and it just gets that awkward moment out of the way so we can go on to enjoy his videos. The videos he creates ranges from comedy to artsy, and never once have I found myself disappointed. He even mixes the two in his video, Skate, where you find yourself glued watching close ups of a skate board. Then at the end, without giving it away, you find yourself laughing.

Recently, he has been focusing more on artsy videos. This may not appeal to some, but it sure did appeal to me. These videos are not easy to make, and you can tell they take a thought process. The angles, the close ups, the zooms, the blurs, it all has to be edited in a way to grab your eyes. In the end of each video you feel like you understand life a little bit more, and it actually inspires you to go out and create an artsy video of your own.

Whenever someone says they have diabetes you may want to instantly feel sorry for them. This isn’t the case with Diabetic Dillon with his comedy and life capturing videos. After watching one of his videos you’ll want to instantly subscribe to him.

Who knew comedy could be educational

Posted by admin On November - 17 - 2009 5 COMMENTS

Lamarr WilsonIt seems like YouTube mostly belongs to the younger generation. You have DFizzy who just turned 18, AdorianDeck who is still in high school, and MistakePro who recently went trick or treating. When you have these older adults join YouTube it often feels like they really don’t get it. Like when my mother tried to rap to an Eminem song… that’s a double whammy.

One man, however, understands YouTube so well that I never would have guessed he was a former teacher. Lamarr of SchoolTechTV is now a day time consultant that teaches teachers and kids about technology, and a night time YouTuber that provides us entertainment. Okay, I know that the word “school” won’t exactly gain your interest, but his comedy will.

AdorianDeck claimed he knew one of the funniest YouTubers, and of course I had to look into this. Surely he was right, because I instantly found myself laughing too loud to hear the video. Lamarr has a wide spectrum of humor that ranges from internet ownage to sarcastic wit. That and nothing is funnier than seeing a grown black man dance around a Barbie store to Dance Party.

What makes him different from the rest of YouTube is his reporting on education. You can tell that this man has both a passion for learning and technology, and he’s true to that in his videos. Every Friday he reports and discusses school and technology related topics, and ask that you weight in. Sometimes he’ll even get a big YouTuber to weight in as well. Which shows how much he’s respected by others in the community.

Lamarr has a very simple formula that works; talk about school and technology while making others laugh. Even if you’re not in school you’ll still appreciate the information he shares. You’ll also appreciate his honest personality. What I mean by honest is that he’s true to himself and has passion for what he does. That in itself is more than enough to get my attention.

Being a loser is now the new winner

Posted by admin On November - 8 - 2009 2 COMMENTS

RachelNothing is more true than this saying I just made up, “The best on YouTube are the ones who got the awkward stares in real life.” Really sit there and think about that for a moment. Have you ever came across a popular YouTuber who was just “normal”? I will guarantee that any one you pick out of the top 100 most subscribed receives stares on a regular bases. Now is that a bad thing?

Today’s spotlight YouTuber answers that question with a big fat NO. Rachel, better known as WannaBeALoserr, has probably been advised to take medication for ADD. Luckily for us she didn’t. She is by far one of my favorite up and coming YouTubers when it comes to pure randomness. Not just “hur hur hur random bullshit” randomness. I mean the kind that really gets heads turning out in public while we sit back and enjoy the show.

She’s hilarious and it feels like an understatement to me. It’s really hard to describe how much her videos truly have me laughing. Sometimes I feel like a retard, because I find myself choking on the air from laughing so hard. Why is she so funny to me? Just some of the things she says, how she says them, and when she says them is just put together so well.

Another things that jumps out at me is that I can tell she’s a natural. You find that too many YouTubers will force “randomness” out of themselves like that haven’t taken a crap in days. However, her video Skypesizzle shows me that she does otherwise. I can just tell that she sits in front of the camcorder, starts speaking, stop, edits it up a little bit, then BAM it’s on YouTube receiving 5 stars. I’m not saying she doesn’t put thought into her videos. I’m saying she put her natural self into her videos.

On top of being randomly funny and true to herself, she has a great personality. Her video You’re Beautiful showed me what a kind person she is, and that’s she willing to puts herself out there to help other people. Now if that’s not a reason to subscribe to someone then I don’t know what is.

Make sure to check out the WannaBeALoserr’sYouTube channel and follow her on twitter for her latest updates. Also, click the retweet button below to spread word about the #1 blog on up and coming YouTubers :D

Wait, is that Obama?

Posted by admin On November - 4 - 2009 1 COMMENT

Kevin ObamapressWhen Barack Obama first made headlines many comedians and spoof television shows failed at creating a good laugh out of him. The man is known to be very charming, witty, humorous, and nearly flawless with his speeches making it difficult to create jokes out of him. Then YouTube’s Alphacat stepped up to the plate and knocked all of us over with chest pains of laugher using his impersonation of Obama. After that, I thought I wouldn’t come across another who could give off such a performance. I thought wrong.

Kevin Michel runs a YouTube channel known as Obama Press that focuses on Obama base skits and parodies. I haven’t really seen another good Obama impersonator before I’ve come across his videos. He has the tone, the hand and arm moments, the speech patterns, the sway of the body, and nearly everything else down to a tee. What he does next is truly spotlight worthy.

The amount of parodies on YouTube are beyond endless, and it’s becoming increasingly difficult to stand out. However, I find myself with lyrics stuck in my head from Obama Press’ parodies. Kevin takes on the role of Obama in cleverly written parodies that actually shows some political knowledge. Being involved in politics myself I enjoyed these a lot whereas a 13 year-old Jonas Brother obsessed girl might not. This is what makes me appreciate his work as a YouTuber even more.

At the moment, his TI & Justin Timberlake Dead & Gone parody is my top favorite. I actually found this Obama parody of Dead & Gone to be better than that of Alphacat’s. Somehow he found a way to reference Superman to the economy while throwing in sexual jokes about Michelle Obama. The production was kept really simple too. Which is great, because it had me focus more on the lyrics than what’s going on the in background.

Obama Press also has other types of videos that I found enjoyable. The skits are short and sweet, and they have an interesting way of combing real media footage with home made footage. Just the thought of Obama hitting George Bush with a shoe makes me smile. I would like to see his production quality tighten up a little bit, but at the moment it’s not enough to stop me from enjoying his videos. I believe that Obama Press has a good chance of becoming a top chart channel if he keeps it up.

The Mexican Goku

Posted by admin On October - 28 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

Edwins GenerationI remember as child I was first introduced to Dragon Ball Z while living over in Japan. There’s no doubt that many of us remember the wacky, funny, hyperactive character known as Goku. Those were some amazing childhood memories that FOX had to go and take a shit on with their live action movie adaption. No one really can pull off Goku. That’s what I thought until I came across a YouTuber who’s crazy hair is possibly the most sane thing about him.

Edwins Generation is someone you would suspect to fail a drug test. Now to some that may be a reason to stay away from him. However, for us fellow YouTubers and YouTube lovers he’s someone we all adore. He keeps my attention with his Speedy Gonzales attitude. This is the key to his fast pace, quick and short, but yet very humorous videos.

His video An error occurred, please try again later. is a prime example of this. The video starts then BAM! He’s off ranting away like someone who just been cut off from their speed. At the end I found myself asking, “Is he funny because of what he says, or how he says it?” The answer has and will always be both, and it’s why he’s unlike many of the other YouTubers out there.

Another appealing thing about Edwin is his crazy ideas. Each video has me going “Wow, did he really do/say that?”, and I love it. There’s honestly nothing better than questioning what you just saw from a YouTuber like SEX WITH A TRANNY?! (GraphyteTV Impersonation). Between Edwin wearing a bra and trying to pass off as a black person using blue paint, everything was so wrong but yet right with that video.

If you’re looking to subscribe to a YouTuber who makes you question their sanity while pulling off the perfect Goku at an Anime convention, EdwinGenerations is perfect for you. You’ll never find yourself bored while watching his videos. In matter of fact you might get addicted to him and soon find yourself at rehab. Trust me, it’s worth it.

Google Chrome produces mind blowing shorts

Posted by admin On October - 26 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

google-chrome-logoWhile doing research for any possible news stories I came across a rather interesting YouTube channel. In an effort to promote themselves as a browser rather than just a search engine Goggle Chrome started a viral video campaign. Now I know many of you may think of just regular one of the mill commercials. However, what I found truly were some of the most entertaining videos I have ever seen on YouTube.

There’s a series of videos known as Chrome Shorts. Each video is made by a third party who creatively relays the idea that Google Chrome is the ideal browser. A couple of them were boring to me, but most of them had me laughing or in awe.

However, one that does stand out in mind is Chromance. The idea is someone who Goggles “The chicken or the egg?” and is taken on a wild ride to find th answer. Throughout the two minute video I found myself entertained by each second full of images, twists, and turns.

Another video that I found equally entertaining was by far the simplest. White outline drawings on a black ground with cat representing a browser, the bird being the internet, and the girl being the users. Without giving anything away this was by far the most comical of the videos.

I know, this isn’t exactly the typical Spotlight, but I can never let a good video go unnoticed. Speaking of good videos, Google Chrome released another video that is without the doubt the most interesting. I can’t say anything without spoiling it and nor can I embed the video on here for the “surprise ending” to work. Trust me when I saw click here and watch the quick 30 second video.

The real star of Saw VI

Posted by admin On October - 23 - 2009 3 COMMENTS

Mike Thomas
You would think that over time these Spotlights would become harder to write. That at some point every YouTuber starts to feel like the previous lacking any sort of fresh style. That couldn’t possibly be further from the truth. When I do find it difficult to write about YouTuber it’s because their videos leave me speechless. One such YouTuber did just that with a comedy style that had me engaging with laugher.

Reckless Mike, pushes the boundaries on random comedy with success. More often than not I find myself confused rather than amused by those who try to be random. Sometimes it seems like they’re forcing that type of comedy style out of their heads. But not Reckless Mike, because you can tell it’s part of his personality.

Hamburgers is a good example of his random style. Honestly, I have no idea how the Burger King mascot bobble head ties in with a Klondike bar. All I know is that it had me laughing, and I’m satisfy with that. Now if you’re not into pure randomness you’ll enjoy his other videos.

His most recent video (as of this post) Saw 6 New Teaser Trailer was what really impressed me. There’s no doubt that he has excellent production quality, as does most of the YouTubers I spotlight. What really stood out to me was how he was able to reproduce the same look and feel as a Saw film. The same grime look, the sudden burst of speed with the camera shot to introduce the trap, and that iconic Jigsaw voice. He was then able perfectly combine his sense of humor into the Saw film elements.

Probably the best part of about running this website is being introduced to YouTubers such as Reckless Mike, and then introducing them to you, the readers. Between his comedy, extremely original video ideas, production quality, and out there personality you would be reckless not to subscribe to him. I defiantly expect many more laughs from him in the future.

YouTuber killed by Mario provides killer laughs

Posted by admin On October - 21 - 2009 3 COMMENTS

Danny CasaleMore often than not, spotlights are mainly made up of comedian style YouTubers. Today is only slightly different, because this YouTuber decribes their style as a “hypnotist”. At fist it didn’t make sense. Then I started to watch some of his videos, and I found myself hypnotize by his unique humor.

At first,DannysStudio blended in with other YouTubers, because so many use the words like “productions”, “films”, and “studios” in their names. However, I gave him a chance and watched the first video that caught my attention, Mario KILLS Me. Right off the bat I knew I was watching someone who understood how to edit and angle his shots in a brilliant way. This quality isn’t a MUST need, but still excellent to have.

When I started to find myself wondering if his content was going to be good, I got my answer. The scene between him and old school Mario had me being built up with laugher. Without ruining anything, towards the end I found myself laughing to the point where my jaw started to hurt. What I saw reminded me of the conversation that I had with Peter Coffin where we concluded that all YouTubers do great when they stop taking their medicine. DannysStudio was showing me something that was truly insane in the best way possible.

Another video, How *Not* to Get YouTube Partnership, caught my eye with all the recent talks and complaints regard the partnership program. Not only was the production value, editing skills, and content were great, but so was his attitude. While I do feel bad for YouTubers who have been having difficulty with YouTube’s partnership program, it was refreshing to find someone who had a better attitude about it by creating that hilarious video.

Even though he isn’t a partner his videos are better than half of the partners I’ve came across. Each video is a hit in my book, and I always notice improvements being made. With that said, if you’re not subscribed to him then you rethink your taste in humor.

Make sure to check out DannysStudio’s videos and follow him on twitter for his latest updates. Also, make sure to click the retweet button below to spread word about the #1 blog on up and coming YouTubers :D

Videos that make you go ape

Posted by admin On October - 17 - 2009 3 COMMENTS

AJWe all enjoy a good laugh, and sometimes that’s all we need to get through the day. Wouldn’t it be great to watch a quick one or two minute skit that gets you thinking the entire time? Then bam! You find yourself with a sudden burst of laugher? Luckily, I found one such YouTuber that does exactly this.

Filming Monkey, has impressed me on all levels and then some. For someone of his age to create the content that he does with continuous success is remarkable. Rarely do we sit there and study the camera angles of the YouTube videos we watch. You get a feeling that he pays close attention to how other videos and films are edited together.

His skits catch my eyes with the constant chances of the angles to bring better focus to the subject of the film. His video Stop. constantly switches between the stop sign, his face, his feet, and the street light. Doing this keeps anyone from getting bored at watching the same scene. It also shows me that he plans out his videos ahead of time, and is willing to put forth the effort needed. His production quality is also eye candy that add a sense of professionalism to the videos.

Also, instead of doing videos on news stories, celebs, and the most talked about subjects, his content is original. Each time I view a video of his I find myself watching something I rarely, if at all, seen from other YouTubers. Which truly makes him refreshing. Another great asset of his is his witty but simple humor. He’s able to take simple ideas or observations, and turn them into a quick one to two minute joke that has you thinking.

The fact that Filming Monkey has these qualities that so few YouTubers do, and at such a young age too. This along makes it clear that he’s very talented and will only improve. There’s no doubt in my mind he’ll surely end up somewhere in the top as long as he continues uploading videos of this quality.

Make sure to check out Filming Monkey’s videos and follow him on twitter for his latest updates. Also, make sure to click the retweet button below to spread word about the #1 blog on up and coming YouTubers :D
