U2 live on YouTube

Millions of fans from sixteen countries will have the ability to watch U2 when they take center stage at the Rose Bowl venue in Los Angeles. The concert will be hosted on YouTube, which is the first time YouTube will broadcast a complete concert live. YouTube has experimented with live content before. Examples being its YouTube live show in November of last year, and showing live segment of the Outside Lands music festival. They say they plan to offer more webcasts in the future similar to the U2 event.
“We are streaming the Rose Bowl U2 live concert onto our platform, inviting millions of people around the country and around the world to participate in what we say is the world’s largest band on the world’s largest platform,” said Chris Maxcy, Google’s director of YouTube partner development.
Fans will be able to chat with each other during the live event. A Twitter feed will be integrated allowing this. Another addition to the U2’s free concert will be a “donate now” button that will link to the RED campaign. The charity was co-founded by Bono with a goal to eliminate AIDS in Africa.
The event will be live at YouTube.com/U2 starting at 8:30pm PT on Sunday, October 25th. The concert will be available to the follow countries: he United States, the United Kingdom, France, Canada, Italy, Spain, Japan, Brazil, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Mexico, India, Israel, South Korea and the Netherlands. Afterwards, an archived version of the concert will be at YouTube.com/U2official.
