The Billy Mays of old women sex

Posted by admin On August - 30 - 2009 5 COMMENTS

LUCKYVloging is losing its respect amongst YouTubers ever since KevJumba became big off of it. However, I came across a YouTuber, AyyLucky, who not only pulls it off well, but gives it a new twist with his own style. “What kind of style is that?” you ask. Honestly, the best why I could describe it is observations with some attitude, and that’s an understatement.

AyyLucky, constantly busts out hilarious statements about the shitty shows on MTV to the stupid plastic you can’t get off cap stick tubes. There’s probably never a moment where you’re not nodding in agreement with what he’s saying. One video that comes to mind is his parody on Chris Brown’s apology video. Everything is perfect from the witty comments to portraying the R&B artist. In the end you’ll more than likely find yourself saying “Fuck you Chris Brown” while laughing.

To be featured in the Spot Light you need to show signs of improvement; which proves that you’re a serious YouTuber. He understands how important that is and clearly shows it. He has quickly and smoothly progressed into skits and character acting. His most recent video shows that he’s going to produce even more promising material in the future. He asked that everyone picked their favorite character, but that’s truly impossible. Each performance is truly unique and stands out while staying on the same great quality.

Everything about this YouTuber shows signs of great potential. So, hopefully we’ll see all three characters in future videos as he turns his name into a trademark comedy style. However, there’s a good chance that he’ll always been known as the Billy Mays of old women sex. All the more reason to watch his videos and to follow him on twitter.

If you’re reading this via e-mail click here to see his Spot Light video.

MistakeProductions interview

Posted by admin On August - 28 - 2009 5 COMMENTS

JulePauseStopRewind: Your YouTuber name, MistakeProductions, is unique. How exactly did you come up with that, and why did you choose it for your screen name?

MistakProductions: MistakeProductions actually has a funny story behind it. When I was creating my account, I couldn’t think of a good username, but I knew I wanted the word “productions” in it. I was having the hardest time ever thinking of something unique I could put in front of “productions”. So I scrolled to the bottom of the page, and in order to create the account you have to enter a validation code. The code was something like “mstake” and it reminded me of the word “mistake”, so I just thought, well I’ll just give that a shot. So, I scrolled back up and entered “MistakeProductions” and, it was available! So, then it came to be haha.

Who inspired you the most to start uploading videos onto YouTube?

What really inspired me most was just watching all the Short Films on YouTube, not really one individual person. Soon, however, I started making comedy sketches, not “short films”, and my biggest inspiration for those was WasteTimeChasingCars. But now that I have really stepped up my game, my biggest inspirations are just my friends I talk to everyday on twitter and YouTube. They are amazing and I would be no where without their help.

Where do you often get your ideas from?

I normally get my video ideas from my everyday life. Just things that happened during the day that I think would make a funny video. Of course I modify them a little, but really they just come from things in my life. Other videos of mine have been inspired by watching other videos on YouTube, but I try to be as original as I can. If I had to give any tips on getting a good video idea, it would be to WAIT FOR IT TO COME TO YOU. I have had plenty of times when I try and force a video to happen, but they don’t turn out nearly as good as the ones that I am truly inspired to make.

How did you come up with the idea of a YouTube rap, and how long did it take you to come up with the lyrics?

I came up with the YouTube rap when I was trying to find some background music for another video. I came across some cool beats and suddenly just started to free rap to them. I was like whoa this is awesome! So then I thought this could be a whole new project for me! I thought it would be a cool idea to make it about something everyone could relate to, and YouTube was the perfect topic. Once I got that idea, I kept listening to the beat and making the lyrics that fit right, and made sense. I worked about 5 hours on that, then I recorded, edited, filmed the music video, edited that, and then posted! It was quite the process, but I think it was worth it.

What do you do to prepare for you videos, and how long does it take you?

It doesn’t take me long to prepare for a video. Once I get the idea (and I’m in the mood to film) I just put my camera on my tripod, take it outside, and film. I try and find decent lighting, but that’s about it, nothing too special.

It seems you put a great deal of work and time into the effects of your videos. How long does it typically take you to do the post production?

Once I get it all filmed and into my computer, it usually takes about 3-4 hours to edit a video. It really amazes me how it takes that long just to make a 3-4 minute video! It actually goes by pretty fast. Sometimes I start editing when the sun is still in the middle of the sky and when I’m done, I look out the window and it’s dark. If it’s just a quick video, it only takes an hour. When it’s a long video, it can take up to 6 hours.

Has there ever been an idea you couldn’t use, because the effect was too difficult to create? If so, do you plan to try this again one day?

Nah, I’ve mastered it all. haha just kidding. Yes this has happened, but it wasn’t really an editing issue as much as it was a character issue. Since I do everything myself, it’s hard to make a video with more than 2 characters in it, unless I clone myself. But cloning myself really takes away from a lot of the angles I would like to have in the video.

What would you like to improve on most in your videos?

Well right now I am trying to improve the overall “look” of the video. I am trying to make my videos look more professional, like color correcting, adding those black bars on the top and bottom, etc.

What do you think makes you stand out most from other YouTubers?

I think I stand out from most of the other YouTubers just because of the talent I have at such a young age. I get a lot of comments saying “how old are you?! this was amazing!” and I think they are impressed that someone my age can do something many adults can’t do (not trying to be rude). A lot of people underestimate kids my age because they DON’T expect much talent from them. That really makes me mad, because being young doesn’t mean you lack talent in what you love to do.

If you could go back seven months from now and give yourself advice, what would it be?

The biggest piece of advice I would have given myself would definitely be, to be original! If you copy someone the slightest bit, people get after you for it and it’s really annoying. So I definitely recommend being original.

Is there a particular comedian you look up to? If so, who?

Will Ferrell is the man. I look up to him so much because anything he says makes me laugh. I have seen most of the characters he can play and they are all just hysterical! Every movie he’s in I try and see. I look up to other people too, like Jack Black, Jim Carrey, and others.

How has YouTube shaped your life?

YouTube has shaped my life in many ways. I have met so many new people that have supported me and have become very close friends. I have come so far all because of my viewers, without them I wouldn’t be doing interviews like this. So many people have put my name out there and I appreciate it so much!

Do you plan to do anything with film for your life long career?

Ohhhh ya. My life goal has been to become an actor for so long. But after getting into this whole filming thing, I think I like working behind the camera more. Either way, I would like to do this for the rest of my life.

Twitter Question from @sillyk5: What genre movies are you interested in directing when you’re older?

I would really like to direct comedy. Sure I would direct other genres, like action, horror, and fantasy, but I am definitely leaning towards comedy.

Make sure you check out his videos and follow him on twitter! Also, retweet the article to spread so more people can discover PauseStopRewind and the YouTubers we interview, and follow us on twitter for the latest news and updates :D

Porn stars came short

Porn Star
The Station released another Hump Day Quickie titled Porn Set. Within the first ten seconds Shane Dawson instantly stands out. Seriously, who wouldn’t expect him in a porn video? There wouldn’t be one without him. Kassem G is seen for a briefly as the director. I know I stated in my review of The Station that I hope he doesn’t get all the perverted roles, but he truly pulls off the part as a sleazy porno director.

Philly D then takes over for nearly the rest of the video. He does have some humorous dialogue, but I felt Shane should have played the role of “Roger” instead. Shane has that natural style that fits more with the role than Philly D. Also LisaNova didn’t really do much. She was just put in to play the “chick” role. In other words, she was there more for looks than an actual role.

The HIV joke at the end was without a doubt the highlight of the video. However, I wish more was done to make it feel less of a one minute “punch line joke” and more of a good quality video. The Station is on to something, but to give the cast their roles right and expand on their jokes. I’ll give this video 3/5 stars.

Little dude, big potential

Posted by admin On August - 26 - 2009 7 COMMENTS

codysshortYouTube really needs a 15 year-old boy who is matured and knows how to style some messy hair. Oh, wait, they already do and his name is codysshort. He may be a little dude, but he knows how to make the older viewers laugh, carries himself with maturity, and actually puts time into his videos.

Another thing that impresses me about him is his style and personality. Ever had that one kid that you would let tag along with you? Codysshort is defiantly one of them. He knows how to be funny without acting hyperactive and screaming like a little girl. Instead he’s laid back and paces himself throughout his videos, which allows for us to actually understand what he’s saying. Each of his videos contain everyday observations that we all can relate too unless you’re blind and deaf.

One video that stands out in mind is his Xbox Live Stereotypes. Anyone who is a casual gamer will quickly start guessing which one he’ll point out next and nod in agreement. He does more than just talk to the camera. He took the time to dress up as the various stereotypes and reenact those moments any Xbox Live gamer would know.

Expect to see him quickly grow into a popular YouTuber as he continually uploads comedic videos. Also, there’s no doubt that he’ll achieve his goal of becoming a YouTuber Partner. Make sure you subscribe to his videos and follow his twitter to watch him grow.

Can you be the next YouTube celeb?

Posted by admin On August - 26 - 2009 3 COMMENTS

star_youtubeBecoming a big time YouTuber is no easy task, and it takes countless hours of hard work. Even then, there’s no guarantee that you’ll become one of the top subscribed or at least a slightly talked about YouTuber. However, there are things you can do to increase your chances of being mentioned in a What the Buck episode.

1.) Upload Videos Consistently

One of the main reasons people don’t become the next big YouTuber is because they have nothing to show off. Yes, in rare cases people do get big off of one video, but not everyone can be the next Chris Crocker. You need to provide content on a weekly bases to increase your odds of being seen, and to give a reason for viewers to subscribe to you. No one will want to subscribe to a YouTuber who will have nothing new to provide them. This would just defeat the whole subscribe purpose.

2.) Be Yourself

Avoid posting up five Fred parodies… actually avoid Fred parodies all together. Too many YouTubers have done this already, and jumping on the Fred train now will only keep you in the background. To really stand out, you need to offer something new and fresh, or a new twist on what’s popular. More often than not, the best way to do this is just be you. Take something random that happens to you and react it in a video. Sometimes doing a skit of vlog about everyday things will allow for viewers to relate with you. People want something new and fresh that they can talk about, and not another hyperactive nutcase.

3.) Seek to Improve

It’s fun for fans to see their favorite YouTubers improve on their videos, because it gives them that little edge in the next conversation, “Oh yeah? I’ve been watching her long before she started using those special effects”. It also shows that you’re serious and passionate about what you do. This gives potential subscribers even more reason to take the time and watch your future videos. If you’re not improving then what else could you possibly offer?

4.) Connect with Your Fans

When people are able to communicate with their favorite celeb it builds up that celeb’s reputation. This same logic applies to YouTubers. Asking a question at the end of your video and seeking responses, responding to @replies on twitter, helping other YouTubers, and giving shout outs will make you seem more human. The more human you seem the more relatable you become and people want to be able to relate with whomever they admire.

5.) Connect with YouTubers

When you seek out fellow YouTubers it shows you’re a little more serious about your videos. The best input and advice you can receive on your videos will come from a seasoned YouTuber. Also, you increase your chances of becoming noticed. A lot of YouTuber are where they’re at because they were promoted by an even bigger YouTuber.

There’s a countless number of ways to increase your odds of being the next big YouTuber. However, the five mentioned above will give you that much needed edge, and will keep you busy for weeks.

Is The Station one big (inside) joke?

Posted by admin On August - 25 - 2009 5 COMMENTS

StationThe best way to describe The Station, a massive collab of popular YouTubers, is the result of a one night stand between MadTV and YouTube. The cast of nine, including guest stars, produce high quality original content that raises the bar for viral video. However, is The Station something that everyone can enjoy or is it just one big inside joke for hardcore YouTube viewers?

Collabs amongst YouTubers have been done before, but never on a scale such as this. The Station is made up of WhatADayDerek, Dave Days, The Bdonski, Kassem G, LisaNova, Shane Dawson, Philly D, Shay Carl, and HiImRawn. They’re no doubt some of the biggest YouTube stars, and they’re sure to come up with ideas that will blow our minds away. Well, maybe not all of us. Many have already complained about the dying down of some of the YouTubers’ personalities to allow of others to shine.

One in particular is Shane Dawson. So far his personality hasn’t exactly shown up on The Station’s videos, and this is due to his difference in comedic style. However, there was a little glimpse of hope in the recent video NigaHiga Beats Shane Dawson?!?! when he gave the game “2 Truth 1 Lie” his Shane Dawson trademark twist. Now many of you may confuse to hear that Shane was in a new video.

HiImRawn showing us what YouTube is really like.

HiImRawn showing us what YouTube is really like.

Even though Shane Dawson left The Station he will continue to appear in several videos. This is because they filmed several scenes and full videos well in advanced. Like a prime-time television show would. Some do, however, argue that The Station‘s popularity is mostly due thanks to Shane’s superstar like status. Right now it’s too soon to tell how The Station well fair without Shane as a future main cast member.

There are, however, a couple of the cast members that do shine as well. HiImRawn is probably one of the lesser well known of the group, but has yet to disappoint with his explosive performances. His acting in Fantasy Goes Wrong! was by far the best amongst the group when he played a high temper YouTube executive. This gives me higher expectations for him in the future than the rest right now.

Shay Carl and LisaNova also had great performances with their roles in ADOPT A HOT CHICK with Randy and Janet and this makes them very promising for their future videos. However, I am afraid that they’ll fall into stereotype roles. I hope LisaNova won’t become the subject of a never ending amount of sex jokes, and that they’re limited to the one in Fantasy Goes Wrong! Also, Shay Carl could easily end up with lesser roles as a lazy, nerdy, or unpopular character and never get the chance to really be anything else.

iJustine's too brief guest apperance.

iJustine's too brief guest apperance.

At this moment, none of the other cast members stand out to me. However, this could change with their future videos. I just don’t want Kassem G to become the actor of all of the perverted and foreign characters, and the rest to just be known as those “white guys”. This is not to say they don’t well with their own YouTube content, but that it’s the possibility that they’ll just fade into the background on The Station.

Also, another concern of mine is all the guest stars that would make their videos one big inside joke amongst YouTube. While it’s great to have them for us hardcore YouTube viewers it could easily lose its sting amongst the casual viewers. What could be iJustine to one person could very well be “that blonde girl who got eaten by a shit load of zombies thanks to those assholes” to another. As long as the quality of their content isn’t heavily placed on their YouTube guest stars I don’t see this having a negative effect.

The Station is on the fence with me at the moment, and I can see it easily falling onto either side. That’s why I plan on continuing watching their videos with an open mind. So, expect a review on each future video as I document the progress of this questionable collab.

TouchTheSkyFilms interview

Posted by admin On August - 25 - 2009 ADD COMMENTS

TTSFilmsPauseStopRewind: Explain to us why you choose “Touch The Sky Films” as the name of your channel.

TouchTheSkyFilms: It is actually originally based off of a Kanye West song (back when he was actually good haha) but a lot of people don’t know that, which I like, because I think it is also pretty different and unique. It also fits my ideas/personalit,y because they are kinda “out there”. It can be looked at as inspirational too…I think.

Where do most of your video ideas originate from, and how much influence do your friends have?

Most of my ideas actually just come from random thoughts that pop into my head that I find funny or interesting. Otherwise they come from random things like music or things that happen in my daily life. Whenever I TRY to think of an idea, its nearly impossible. My friends don’t have too much influence on the actual ideas themselves, but they will always give me suggestions or ways to improve things, which is awesome!

Have there ever been creative differences while making a video with them? If so, how do you come to agreement?

Surprisingly, not really. They will usually do their best to accommodate my ideas and I will always listen to anything they have to say as well. The only problem we’ve really had is, I am kind of a perfectionist. I like to shoot each scene around 5 or 6 times (or more) just to make sure everything is just right. Most people don’t really like dealing with that…I’m not sure why.

Do you ever find it hard for everyone to have the same schedule when it comes to filming with your friends?

Definitely. That has really been my biggest problem and the reason I haven’t posted more often. Most of my ideas involve several people, and it’s pretty hard to find a time that works for everyone.

Are you going to make videos in the future that are just of yourself?

Absolutely. Most of them will be from now on.

How much time do you typically plan out for a video?

Usually, after I come up with an idea, I think about how I exactly wanna do it, for at least a week. Then I roughly script in my head, plan it out, and film it in about a day.

As a YouTuber, where would you most like to see yourself improve on?

I really wanna be more comfortable doing vlogs. Right now I am not too comfortable talking to the camera by myself because I always feel like someone is watching me or listening to me. I know, its weird right? I plan on doing a lot more in the future though.

What’s the hardest part when it comes to making your videos?

The hardest part is probably executing all of my ideas. Whenever I picture a video in my head, I always picture it as being like a scene from a movie or television, and it’s very hard to actually make it look how I want it to.

Now what would you say you have most going for you?

Not much, haha. But probably my creativity. I have a lot of weird and unique ideas that nobody would ever think of, and that I think could turn into good videos. Other than that, I have become friends with some awesome people that have a lot of influence in the YouTube community, so that could help me out in the long run.

What do you feel makes your videos unique?

I think my videos are unique because they are a different style than you will usually see. I really try to make them serious and look cool, but at the same time, make them funny, if that makes sense. I also think the amount of hard work I put in differs from other YouTubers. I try to make everything perfect, or at least as close as I can get. It usually doesn’t work, but I try my best!

Do you have a goal in mind for yourself in regards of being a YouTuber?

I just want people to continue to watch my videos and enjoy them. Hundreds of thousands of subscribers and views would always be nice, but it’s not everything.

Are making videos just a hobby, or do you seek a future career that involves films?

I definitely would want to do this as a career. I will be going off to college next year, and I plan on attending an art school to study Film!

Make sure you check out TouchTheSkyFilms’ videos and follow him on twitter. Also, help spread the word about PauseStopRewind and the YouTubers we speak with by retweeting this article :D

The black Shane Dawson

Posted by admin On August - 24 - 2009 4 COMMENTS

LeoIf you’re looking for a “regular dumbass” that is super random and is funny then we got the YouTuber for you. Leo Williams, better known as GraphyteTV, is someone you’ll take an instant liking to. His comedy style resembles that of Shane Dawson’s, but he’s not trying to be Shane. Graphyte is only being… Graphyte, and no one else. This is someone who is actually a natural comedian.

All of his content is original. Even his Fred parody stands out from most, because he threw in the “black” twist. Also, you can tell he puts in a great deal of effort into his video. Each video is an improvement from the previous.

His most recent one contains several cut away scenes, great camera angle shots, fast and steady pace, and nice background music. He also took the time to dress up as his mother and grandmother, and pulled it off without it being awkward. Then there’s the addition of his little brother, who only added to the video instead of taking away like many would. This shows that Graphyte knows how to direct a cast member.

What truly stands out the most is his likable personality. You’ll take an instant liking to him as you’ll feel like you’re in a conversation instead of watching a video. He’s always smiling and welcoming. While some people are annoying about this, he pulls it off really well with his upbeat attitude.

With his original and ever improving content, great comedic style, and great personality he has an excellent chance of becoming a well talked about YouTuber. This is a huge sign that you need to subscribe to him and follow his twitter so you can watch him grow.
